GHC3 Partnerships Provide Complete Solution for Delivering, Monitoring Virtual Care and Supporting Clinical Research

ATLANTA, August 26, 2020. The COVID-19 outbreak emphasizes the importance of ensuring patients and care givers can receive the care they need even amid a global pandemic. Today, the Global Health Crisis Coordination Center (GHC3) announces a pilot project that will utilize a virtual care platform to connect patients and their physicians through remote monitoring and create a data sharing platform. GHC3 received support for this project from the CDC Foundation through a grant from Dell Technologies.

Now more than ever it is important for patients to be able to connect with their physicians. This virtual care platform is designed to scale at low cost and maximize opportunities to connect and care for patients who are at high risk or are underserved by healthcare resources. With this virtual care platform, the scalability of clinician to patient monitoring will be dramatically expanded. Data collected with patient consent through this platform will be shared through electronic medical standards to local healthcare organizations and state, local and federal healthcare agencies.

“This is a complete technological solution to providing and delivering virtual care,” said Ken Berta, Executive Director of GHC3. “GHC3 is pleased to facilitate a collaboration with long-term care facilities and their clinical staff to meet the needs of care for vulnerable populations while also assisting government agencies in being able to monitor disease.”

“With all the challenges we are facing with COVID-19, a virtual care platform to better connect patients with their doctors and also enable data sharing presents a potential win-win for everyone,” said Judith Monroe, MD, president and CEO of the CDC Foundation. “We were pleased to help bring together GHC3 and these partners, led by Dell Technologies, and we thank all of them for their generous support.”

Dell Technologies is donating its edge and Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities to develop and provision a virtual care platform. Other partners in this project include Teknicor, which will provide data center services and hosting, and eCare21, which will provide the first 10,000 seats of licensing.

The program will begin with a pilot implementation in Georgia, and will aim to achieve four goals:

  • Create remote monitoring capability for at-risk populations;
  • Deliver scalable patient and provider management through remote monitoring;
  • Create a data sharing and interoperability framework; and
  • Expand outreach and human impact.
