FW: Happy Holidays: A 2020 Year in Review

Despite the challenge of the past year, 2020 will be remembered as the year of an innovation revolution for the life sciences and health technology industries—especially in Georgia.

In the past 12 months, we’ve seen astonishing advances in public health and drug development, as well as an unprecedented effort to collaborate and respond rapidly to health crises and inequity that will bring us out of the pandemic and into a new era of medical innovation—thanks to your hard work, leadership, and dedication.

I want to close out this year by thanking the Center for Global Health Innovation community and reflecting on your many achievements this year—from the launch of Georgia Bio’s new strategic plan to foster innovation and the growth of the life sciences ecosystem, to the expansion of the BioEd Institute and alliances to improve healthcare access, to actions taken to tackle health inequities, like bringing much-needed coronavirus testing to underserved communities with the Global Health Crisis Coordination Center, and developing the PAVE tool to help decisionmakers prioritize socioeconomic disadvantages and economic recovery in their vaccine distribution plans.

While I know many of you won’t get much of a break quite yet, I hope you get a chance to rest, rejuvenate, and enjoy quality time with your loved ones, even virtually. I look forward to seeing you in a much brighter 2021—thanks to science, innovation, and Georgia’s outstanding life sciences and global health industries.
